Four main components of Quality within a QA framework

A reliable Quality Assurance (QA) Framework can be key to a project’s success. There are seven essential elements to help you build a strong dependable QA Framework, which are as follows:

  1. Life Cycle Process and Practices
  2. Asset Information Support Systems
  3. Data and Knowledge
  4. Service Delivery
  5. Organisational Issues
  6. People Issues
  7. Total Asset Management Plans

Quality throughout the Project Lifecycle

Following on from the QA Framework it is important to have Quality throughout the entire Project Lifecycle to ensure success. As a QA team, we pride ourselves on being able to help our clients through every stage of the project lifecycle.

There are four main components of Quality:

Quality Planning

This will determine which quality standards are necessary for the project and provides the stakeholders with direction on how quality management will be achieved. The following aspects help a company sustain Quality throughout the project lifecycle:

  • Stakeholder expectations
  • Success criteria (as defined in the business case)
  • Standards applicable (internal and external)
  • Roles and responsibilities concerned with quality
  • The process that will be followed
  • How continuous improvement will be actioned
  • Quality control measures
  • Interactions with other processes

Quality Assurance

This component covers the total project lifecycle, not just one particular phase. It ensures that all other processes are being performed correctly and observing the standards set for the project.

Quality Assurance also provides confidence to the stakeholders that the project will be delivered to the highest standard by communicating the outcomes of regular reviews and independent audits.

Quality Control

Quality Control ensures that the project deliverables obey the specifications and meet the stakeholder’s expectations. Testing and quality measurements are used to ensure this component is used correctly. There are many techniques that can be used for Quality Control, the one that is selected depends on the project in hand.

Continuous Improvement

There is always an opportunity to improve the management processes during a project. These changes may be key to a project success or failure.  This component allows companies to gather information that can help within the management of future projects.
